Treatment
CPAC psychologists are trained in the delivery of techniques and therapies that have demonstrated effectiveness in the treatment of mental health conditions.
We broadly adopt a personality-guided approach to treatment, which is based on the notion that each persons core disposition, behavioural tendencies, and characteristics are expressed consistently across different situations. By gaining a working knowledge of each individual’s personality our psychologists can anticipate situations or contexts that may stress or aggravate the person. This knowledge generates a treatment plan, developed in collaboration with the person - that facilitate skills and adaptive coping to reduce or alleviate their distress.
Treatment services are offered for adults who may be experiencing the following:
· Depression
· Anxiety
· Trauma
· Occupational health difficulties
· Emotional difficulties
· Pain management and coping with chronic illness
· Adjustment to life transitions
· Personality or interpersonal difficulties
We accept third party and self-referred clients. Please note that we are not a crisis service and therefore do not schedule same-day appointments. You may be able to claim a partial rebate on the fee of your sessions through your private health fund. Please contact your private health fund to determine if you are eligible. Alternatively, you may speak to your GP about your eligibility to be referred under Medicare’s Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative. If you are eligible, you will need to complete a Mental Health Treatment Plan with your GP prior to scheduling an appointment with a psychologist.
